State Senator Mike Delph will be pursuing tough illegal immigration legislation in 2010.
Just as we've done all the other times, many of us like to support him and this cause. We have posted a petition in the "Files" of this meetup group. Petition - Illegal Immigration 2010 Urging the General Assembly to uphold the Rule of Law. http://files.meetup.c... If you would like to help please print some and gather signatures. When you've completed some you may get them directly to the Senator or contact an organizer about how to present them. Edited by Lynette on Jul 9, 2009 10:59 PM |

S.B. 580 Unauthorized alien matters http://www.in.gov/app... www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/billwatch/ It was said to be some of the toughest state legislation introduced that year. It passed the Senate then time expired before it moved in the House. |

The JBS had a booth at Indy's Tea Party 4th of July event.http://jbs.meetup.com...
We collected hundreds of illegal immigration petition signatures! We are off to a great start. If you are collecting signatures, please share your thoughts and successes in this thread. Petitions can be powerful for the cause. It gives the legislator support for his cause or holds them accountable for not addressing the issue. They build your credibility as an activist who is willing to do hard work and shows the legislators you're committed and serious. A critical part is the conversation you have with the person signing the petition. That's where you educate and wake people up. Edited by Lynette on Jul 10, 2009 10:46 AM |

A couple of us attended a TP Regional meeting the other day. There were at least 150 in attendance. We collected another 100 signatures of Hoosier that want the illegal immigration crisis address by the state. We could have collected signatures from everyone except some of the people had singed the petition at the 4th of July event. We asked that they only sign once.

I have not debunked or fact checked this. I'm not sure I should post it here. But it's a simple read and really illustrates a point.
Joe Legal vs. Jose Illegal You have 2 families... "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California . "Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted. "Jose Illegal" also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table". Joe Legal.. . $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week = $52,000 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax. Joe Legal now has $31,231.00. Jose Illegal... $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week = $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays for Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage ... $1000.00 per month = $12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $19,231.00. Jose Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal makes too much money to be eligible for Food Stamps or Welfare so Joe Legal pays for food... $1,000.00 per month =20$12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00. Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month = $12,000.00 per year. Joe Legal is now in the hole -<$4,769.00>. Jose Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy, which entirely pays his rent of $500.00 per month = $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays and gets a part time job after work to make ends meet. Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family. Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his childrens' lunches while Jose Illegal's children get free government sponsored lunches. Joe Legal's children go home after school. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program which, again, is provided free of charge. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services, but Joe Legal paid for them and Jose Illegal did not pay. Besides being illegal - - it's unfair. It's a good time to get petitions to the state legislators. They are planning the next session.
(I know of at least 1,250 signatures collected against illegal immigration! That's a Nice Job!) If you have helped collect petitions signatures urging the state to up hold the rule of law and stopping illegal immigration, you may mail them to State Senator Delph. http://www.in.gov/leg... KEEP COLLECTING SIGNATURES It is never to late. They can be turned in at any time. |
