In 2001, Utah's two Coordinators, with permission for JBS HQ, launched an education and action campaign within Utah for JBS member to educate Utah's 104 Legislators regarding the dangers of applying for an Article V Convention. After fasting and prayer, and years of work by JBS members to convince Utah's Legislators to pass a Rescission Resolution to rescind their applications to Congress for an Article V Convention, the measure passed without a single vote against it. The Resolution, passed in February 2001, was HJR 15. The battle continues. If 34 states apply to Congress for a Constitutional Convention, one must be held. There is nothing to prevent such a convention from becoming a "runaway convention." Learn more by viewing the JBS produced video:

Many have asked about this topic as Ohio's legislature has debated calling for a Constitutional convention lately and Virginia's may as well. Maryland has also considered making an application to Congress.

Here is the link to the bill in question from Ohio - a con con only happened once in American history - and yes it was a run away convention - although back then it was really good for us... it gave us the current US constitution, however Nancy Pelosi and her team will be the ones to decide the delegates, and that means very bad for us...

Even if the State Legislators in the 50 State Legislatures decide on the delegates to a modern Article V Convention, the dangers are multiple. Again, please view our Beward of Article V video on the topic:

Today, Mr. Jared Law, the Founder of the Project 9/12 Network, emailed me to state that he and his organizationare unequivically against an Article V Convention, a Constitutional Convention, being called at this time in America! That's great news.

A great article, Dangers of a Constitutional Convention, has been reproduced as a reprint which is available for $0.50 each or in quantities as low as $0.30 each from shopjbs.org. If you want to understand the issue and desire to bring understanding to your State Legislators as well about the Article V Convention, the new reprint is an inexpensive way to pass along important information. "Beware Article V" is the title of a DVD available from www.shopjbs.org that can be obtained to educate ourselves, our legislators, local opinion molders, political party leaders, and others about the unpredictable dangers that would follow the invocation of a constitutional convention. Read about the commemoration of the constitution at the blog: http://www.jbs.org/co...

Those who read the editorial in the September 17th issue of the Daily Herald newspaper can see that there's a push on for convincing our legislators to again issue an application for a constitutional convention to Congress. But, let us remind our legislators that in 2001, HJR-15 passed without a single dissenting vote in either house of Utah's Legislatures as a bill to rescind all of Utah's previous applications for an Article V Convention. Thus, Utah's legislators fully considered the dangers of a convention and rejected it.
