Here's your chance to plan to attend the town hall meeting of U.S. Reprentative Jason Chaffetz. His website left the city off, so I'm guessing San Pete's meeting is in Ephraim. The place,date, and time are below: Sanpete County Wednesday, September 2, 2009 1:00 PM Greenwood Student Center 250 E. College Ave. Ephraim (?), Utah Here's Congressman's website to check for updates or corrections: http://chaffetz.hous e.gov/2009/07/town-h alls-with-congressma n-chaffetz-in-your-a rea.shtml Please, purchase some of the great reprinted articles available from shopjbs.org to distribute to those in attendence. You can find the reprints here: http://www.shopjbs.o rg/index.php/tna/rep rints.html The "FREEDOM INDEX" reprint (10-pages) and the "COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS" reprint are two very appropriate articles to distribute at town hall meetings. The "HOW THE MONETARY MAYHEM BEGAN" article is certainly an appropriate article for people to read to gain understanding of how we ended up with the economic mess we're in today in America so they can make better-informed political choices in the future.

To JBS Freedom Campaign Meetup Members;
There is to be a morning, public, free-of-charge forum featuring Senator Orrin Hatch and Steve Forbes, on Friday, August 28th, at 9 a.m., at the Ragan Theater at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem. This is a great time to ask questions about Article I, Section 8 concerning the delegated power to "COIN" money, or for federal interference in the Health Care Market. In fact, here's the questions I wish someone would ask:
"Has the use of paper money since the Federal Reseve was created caused a devaluing of our monetary unit, the dollar, through inflation of the money supply; and if so, shouldn't we return to using gold and silver to prevent inflation of the money supply?" "Senator Hatch, Article I, Section 8, Clause 5 delegated authority to Congress only to COIN money, not to print bills of credit (paper money), so how could Congress delegate a power to print paper money to a Central Bank when it never had authority to print it in the first place?" "Senator Hatch, where in the Constitution was congress specifically given power to create the Federal Reserve System? I don't see any authority to create a central bank given by our Constitution to the Congress, do you?"
"Mr. Forbes, The Constitution, Article I, Section 10 forbids the States from printing bills of credit, that is paper money as it was called in the 18th century. And Section 10 also requires the States to use gold and silver coin for payment of debts, so how can the States obey the constitution when they are forced to use paper federal reserve notes that aren't even backed by gold or silver? Isn't America in trouble because of the trillions of dollars printed from thin air by the Federal Reserve System to fund Congressional borrowing?"
"Is the 4,000 tons of gold at Fort Knox still in Fort Knox, and if so, couldn't it be coined into small coins and returned to the people of the United States in exchange for their paper federal reserve notes so we could put the gold back in circulation in America?" No doubt you can think of dozens of more constitutionally-bas ed questions to ask. Where federal government intrusion into health care is concerned we could especially base questions on the Tenth Amendment and ask where in Article I, Section 8, the Congress was delegated powers over the health care of Americans. This forum would be a wonderful place to distribute the July 20 FREEDOM INDEX from The New American magazine, which is now available as a reprint. I bought 900 of them at $0.30 each as reprinted articles. The 550 that I haven't sold yet are sitting in boxes in my front room. This is a chance to bring 100-reprints with you and distribute them so people can see the voting records of both houses of Congress. ($30 per 100 reprints).
Sorry I can't be there. I will be home on Monday afternoon if you need to purchase reprints to distribute, unless I'm at the bank, or STAPLES. Phone me at 801-427-1106.

Here's a chance for Salt Lake County residents who belong to our Freedom Campaign Meetup group to visit with U.S. Representative Jason Chaffetz at his Town Hall Meeting. The meeting's date, time, and place are below:
Salt Lake County Wednesday, August 26, 2009 7:00 PM Elkridge Middle School 3649 W. 9800 S. South Jordan, UT 84095-3260
Certainly Congressman Chaffetz will need to be defended for his choice not to support federal government health care plans, since there is not provision in Article I, Section 8 that delegated authority to Congress to legislate concerning the health or healthcare of Americans. While the "Welfare Clause" says government should "promote" the general welfare, as JBS Chapter Leader Thera Lue Bird Pointed out, the clause does not say government should "provide" for our general welfare. There's a big difference between promotion and provision. I encourage members to distribute the reprint FREEDOM INDEX from the July 20th NEW American. It's available from shopjbs.org under The new American, reprints site.

Before the meeting, we distributed some New American reprints to two Police Departments. The reprint, "TERRORIST TARGETING OF POLICE," was coupled with an invitation to attend our October 9th speakers bureau event at the Salt Lake City Airport Hilton Hotel, "EXPOSING TERRORISM." (see potos) JBS Section Leader Joel Flaker has 400 copies of the reprinted article to sell to those meetup members or jBS Chapters interested in distributing reprints to mayors, legislators, police officers, police chiefs, sheriff, sheriff deputies, or other law enforcement people together with our flier to announce Art Thompson's speech that is scheduled for 10-9-09. This will be an ongoing activity until we've distribute the 400 reprinted articles. This is too short of notice to likely bring anyone tonight to the letter stuffing meeting portion of this meeting, but thought I'd put it here anyway. We are labeling, addressing, and stuffing about 500 letters to be delivered to JBS members around the Seattle, WA area to invite them to the September 29th speech in Bellevue, WA. This is being done as a favor to the folks in Seattle as their Speakers Bureau Chairman is no longer the chair, so they weren't ready to do it. I did make some phone calls so there will be a few people over to help out.

"All we must find and build and use, to win, is sufficient understanding. Let's create that understanding and build that resistance, with everything mortal men can put into the effort-- while there still is time."-- Mr. Robert Welch, Found of The John Birch Society, 1958, THE BLUE BOOK. Utah State Representative Curtis Oda, from District 14, Davis County, has been organizing a "TAKE BACK UTAH RALLY" to be held at the Utah State Capitol Building, on Saturday, August 8th. The expected guest speaker is the well known Sheriff Richard Mack from Arizona. Hundreds or even thousands of people are expected to attend. Most of those that are part of "Take Back Utah" group are chiefly concerned over fedderal government closing down use of federal lands inside Utah. We can help them see other concerns with the Federal Government's excesses and broaden their understanding. To learn more about the event go to: http://www.utahpolic y.com/event/take-bac k-utah-capitol-parad e-rally The rally organizer (not me) will begin their event at 10:30 a.m. with a march, or parade, up State Street to the Capitol Building. Historically The John Birch Society and its leaders do not recommend to its members or allies to participate in Street marches for many reasons. Of course you're free to participate in the march if you wish, but among those reasons the JBS avoids marches are to avoid the possible violence that sometimes accompanies street marches when adversaries appear. Another reason is that the LEFT commonly uses street marches and demostrations as one of their tactics and we don't want to be seen as part of the Communist dynamic, or part of a radical agenda by people who sometime devolve into riots. The organizers have called this event a "parade" not a march, so that too makes it less identified with the tactics of radicals involved in typical street demonstrations. However, those reasons for not participating in a street march do not stop us from attending the Rally at the end of the march at the State Capitol Building. (If you want to find parking you'll want to arrive much earlier than the 12:30 PM time posted for the Rally!) The chief purpose of our attendence would be to bring understanding, as noted in the quote from Robert Welch above, on important issues to those who gather at the rally and to introduce them to our literature and to invite attendees. Some of the items we'd like to see members order and bring with them to distribute include: 1) the new booklet by John F. McManus, "Restoring the Rights of the States and the People." 2) reprints such as "How the Monetary Mayhem Began," found at: http://www.shopjbs.o rg/index.php/tna/rep rints.html 3) JBS DVDs such as "Overview of America" and "Dollars and Sense" also found at www.shopjbs.org . There will also be a new, inexpensive DVD about Newt Gingrich available by the end of July from www.shopjbs.org that could be distributed to warn attendees of Newt's involvement in the CFR, in bringing to pass acceptance of NAFTA, etc. Let's expose Gingrich as the globalist he is before he build too much popularity in mass movements across America. Another item we encourage our attendees to bring with them and widely distribute to other attendees at the Rally is an announcement flyer regarding the upcoming JBS Speakers Bureau Committee event planned for Friday, October 9th, 7:30 PM, in Salt Lake City. That Speakers Bureau Committee event will feature as its speaker JBS CEO Art Thompson, who will speak about International Islamic Terrorism and its underpinning of support, training, and arms from the International Communist Terror network. (We also want to invite many Legislators, Police Chiefs, and Sheriffs to attend the October 9th event.) The announcement flyer for Art Thompson's speech is being designed at JBS HQ presently. When recieved, I or one of the assistnat Organizers, Dallin, Joel, or Steven, will e-mail it as an e-mail attachment to all JBS Freedom Campaign Meetup members in Utah. This means, if you're attending, you'll want to take personal responsibility to obtain copies of the suggested reprints, or DVDs, or Booklets, or announcement flyers that you wish to help distribute.Take Back Utah
